Recently our new School Council received an invitation to meet with Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council Mayor Scott Carson at Lagan Valley Island.

During the trip our councillors spent time in the City Council Chamber, where the Mayor shared about how City Council functions and a little bit about the unique history of our City. After that we progressed to the Mayor’s Parlour where we enjoyed a question and answer session. The Mayor shared about he came to be involved and gave our councillors some advice on how they can have the biggest impact. We were amazed at the similarities between School Council and City Council!

We would like to say a massive thank you to the Mayor for being so generous with his time. We were also delighted to receive a gift bag at the end of our visit!

The councillors returned inspired to represent their peers at Ballycarrickmaddy and make a positive impact on behalf of all.
